Request for proposals for geospatial data collection and mapping to improve availability and uptake of family planning products among pastoralist communities in Kenya
Why this project matters
Access to family planning resources is central to safeguarding the well-being of families, especially women and girls. The COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected health systems, disrupting access to reproductive health services, including family planning, and slowing down progress in improving access for those with unmet family planning needs. This situation exacerbated the existing barriers to accessing family planning for Kenya’s pastoralist communities in Turkana and Wajir counties.
To address these issues, Project Last Mile is launching an initiative to improve availability and uptake of family planning resources in these regions. Leveraging the supply chain and marketing expertise of The Coca-Cola Company and its network, Project Last Mile aims to develop targeted strategies that align with the unique needs of Kenya’s pastoralist communities.
Project Last Mile’s main goal, in this case, is to create and implement a targeted strategy based on insights to raise awareness, increase uptake, and improve access to family planning products for pastoralist communities in Turkana County and Wajir County. By utilizing Project Last Mile’s route-to-market and strategic marketing capabilities, we aim to develop an aligned strategy that will improve the supply and demand for family planning products that meet the specific needs of the pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya.
Request for proposals
Project Last Mile is seeking proposals from qualified organizations to conduct a comprehensive assessment and mapping of community health facilities, water points, and pastoralist routes in Turkana and Wajir counties. This critical work will lay the foundation for a route-to-market strategy that effectively increases the reach and impact of family planning services in these communities.
We are looking for partners with expertise in data proofing, geospatial mapping, and risk analysis who can help us achieve the following objectives:
- Update and complete the existing geospatial mapping of health facilities, with a focus on identifying gaps.
- Identify and map water points and pastoralist routes, analyzing their proximity to health services.
- Evaluate potential risks within the distribution and supply chain, proposing solutions to mitigate these risks.
What we need from you
If your organization has the technical expertise, experience, and local knowledge to take on this challenge, we invite you to submit a proposal. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a project that will have a lasting impact on health access in some of Kenya’s most underserved areas.
How to apply
Interested organizations should submit a proposal outlining their approach, team capabilities, relevant experience, and a detailed budget. The full request for proposal (RFP) is available here.
Join us in making a difference by ensuring that every woman and girl in Turkana and Wajir counties has access to the family planning resources they need to thrive. The deadline for proposal submissions is September 20th, 2024. We look forward to your innovative ideas and solutions!
